Vientiane

A long ride south has finally brought me to Vang Vieng, the ultra-touristy spot set in the limestone valley only about 150 kilometers north of the capital Vientiane.
It is a breeding ground for idiots indeed. Heh, and in all senses of the word!
I came here rather excited for some stimulating partying but ended up opting otherwise. But it didn't turn out that bad in the end - a day of bicycle riding among the limetsone peaks and another one chilling on a tube down the river. Luckily all the merry plonkers departed by then, pardon my french..

After Vang Vieng I spend a few days in Vientiane which is a truly enchanting place although not in a traditional sense. There a few temples and othersights to see but just to be there in the blistering heat doing nothing is what it was all about for me. And I am not a lazy person. It certainly still has something of it's past colonial feel to it. Very much recommended on any SE Asia travel!
